Broom and Gloom Squeaky Clean Mysteries Book 9 edition by Christy Barritt Religion Spirituality eBooks
Ok, so this book made me a little bit upset. Make that A LOT upset. There I was, DYING for the next book in the series after Foul Play (book 8), but I had finally resigned myself to waiting forever for book 9. I'm scrolling through Amazon and "the latest book by Christy Barritt" pops up. It's none other that Broom and Gloom. I started screaming, jumping up and down, and making a complete idiot of myself, making pushing the "buy" button freaking difficult. (The Squeaky Clean books are THAT good.) After telling the kids to make their own lunch, I hunkered down to read. A couple of hours later, completely satisfied by my Gabby St. Claire fix while simultaneously yearning for the next book, I got mad. NO ONE freaking told me this book was out yet? Or was even coming out this soon? How dare they. (Whoever "they" are.) That's it. I'm signing up on every mailing list Christy Barritt has. It is UNACCEPTABLE to go past even ONE day of book 10's release date. Best. Series. Ever!Product details

Broom and Gloom Squeaky Clean Mysteries Book 9 edition by Christy Barritt Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I always say it, I LOVE Christy Barritt books! You would think too, that after the 9th book in a series, that it would be enough and should be ending soon. But I have to say, they just keep getting better! There are so many great people in these books, and they are like real people that I wish I could have in my life. I know Gabby and I would be great friends! I do believe she is a tad bit braver than I am though! This time Gabby is off to a forensic conference in Oklahoma, where she also arranges to meet her stepbrother to be, Trace Ryan, who is a country singer and famous in his town. Well, believe it or not, Gabby gets herself into a few slight jams while she is there. This was another solid installment, and a very happy surprise at the end! Can't wait for book 10!!! )
Gabby signed up for a conference out of town, and planned to meet her soon to be step-brother. Her father, and Trace's mother were planning to get married. Trace was an up and coming singer with a band, and his girlfriend, Skye had disappeared a month ago, so he asked Gabby to try to find her. Bad things started to happen, - the drummer was killed, and Trace's favorite guitar was smashed, Gabby was accosted by one o the convention speakers, plus almost killed in a house fire - on and on. She had felt inferior to the others at the conference as she was working as a crime scene cleaner and the others had forensic jobs. She was also caught in a tornado, but was not hurt.
Someone was out to hurt or kill them, and the book gets very exciting. The book kept my attention from beginning to end. I recommend this book to all.
I love the Squeaky Clean series. I am a big fan of mysteries that highlight great characters. I have loved all these books so far. However, this one was not the best in the series. The storyline itself was ok, the problem was in the details. The antagonist was given credit for planning things that there was no way she could have controlled. This genre tends towards lots of hard-to-believe elements, but this story had elements that were in the impossible/unbelievable category. Many details were left unresolved or unexplained. There were also lots of typos in the kindle format. Overall, it felt rushed and not well planned. But even so, it was an enjoyable read.
First, let me start off by saying that I HATE first person books. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who does - or maybe so?? - but Normally, if I start a book, even by a big name author, and find that it is written in First person, I put it down. It's just so hard to create depth in the other characters, plus if I can't identify with the main character, then it makes it almost impossible to enjoy the story.
That is, until I picked up the very first book in the series. I was quickly hooked, and now at this point, I snatch them up as quickly as they are offered. I LOVE Christy Barritt. Now, I will admit, that I still enjoy stories a bit more when they are written in third person, BUT, this is just my own personal weirdness. Believe me, however tense you prefer your fictions books to be written in, you will never be disappointed by a Christy Barritt book.
It IS a Christian book - which is usually all that I read - however, I really like the fact that Christy never delves to deeply into theology, or gets in anyone's face about it. Honestly, I think non-Christians could enjoy this book just as much as believers will - and who knows, it may just give you something to think about!
If haven't already, check out While You Were Sweeping - which is a great novella about Riley! http//www./While-You-Were-Sweeping-Novella-ebook/dp/B00RZT2WTG
Once again talented author Christy Barritt leads us on a trail of mischief and mayhem with our favorite crime scene cleaner Gabby St. Claire. In this adventure Gabby feels the need to further her education of Crime Scene Investigation so she travels cross country from Virginia, to Oklahoma for a forensic convention. While there Gabby meets for the first time her soon to be stepbrother, Trace Ryan, an up and coming country singer, and that is when the adventure begins.
There is something about Trace that makes Gabby immediately like him, he is handsome, sincere and a wonderful singer, with just one flaw; he thinks he is being stalked by a crazy, murderous fan.
When Trace explains about his troublesome fan and how she might have had something to do with the disappearance of a young woman he had been dating. Gabby dives head first into what could well be her own crime scene. The more she investigates the more danger seems to follow her, from a mad charging bull to being trapped in a burning house to starring down the barrel of a gun. Will Gabby figure out who the real killer is before it's too late?
This Squeaky Clean Series by Christy Barritt is a true delight to this fan of mysteries and CSI shows. Gabby is bright, thinks fast on her feet, and has a great sense of humor. If you haven't had the pleasure of reading one of these exciting novels yet, follow this link to a free copy of the very first one; Hazardous Duty and I promise you will want to read the rest of the series. Many thanks to Ms Barritt for creating this enjoyable series that's had me hooked from day one!
